The Blackra1n jailbreak will only function with iPhone 3G and 3GS models running the IOS operating system 3.00 to 3.13. If you have any other type of iPhone or an iPhone running a different iOS version, the Blackra1n jailbreak will not work. To perform the jailbreak with Blackra1n, you will also need the iPhone's data cable.
Blackra1n Process
To jailbreak your iPhone with Blackra1n, open a Web browser on your computer and go to the Blackra1n.com home page. Click the Windows icon if you use a Windows-based computer or click the Apple icon if you use a Mac computer. The Blackra1n jailbreak tool will automatically download to your computer. Click the Blackra1n icon on your computer to open the jailbreak tool. Connect your iPhone to your computer using the data cable. Click the "Make it Rain" button within the Blackra1n jailbreak tool to initiate the jailbreak process.
After the Jailbreak
After the Blackra1n tool installs the jailbreak on your iPhone, your device will reboot. You have now jailbroken your iPhone. Remove your iPhone from the data cable to complete the jailbreak process. Jailbreaking automatically installs the Cydia application on your iPhone. The Cydia application is an alternative to the iPhone's App Store and allows you to install thousands of unauthorized applications and custom code modifications on your device.
Using Cydia
After the jailbreak, to use the Cydia application, tap the "Cydia" icon on the home screen of your iPhone. Tap the "Search" icon and enter the name or a description of the application or custom code modification you want to install on your iPhone. Alternatively, you can tap the "Sections" icon and search the Cydia application by category. Tap the application or code modification. Tap the "Install" button and then tap the "Confirm" button to install the application or code modification on your iPhone.
