Do It Yourself Vinyl Letters

Vinyl wall lettering is all the rage. Instead of ordering vinyl letters through an expensive company, there are ways you can achieve the same look in your own home.

Cricut Machine

If you currently own the Cricut machine, use it to cut the exact letters you need into vinyl paper. Cricut sells its own vinyl paper in a variety of different colors at Wal-Mart, Hobby Lobby and Michael's craft stores. By inserting this paper in your Cricut machine, and entering the characters or design you would like to cut, the machine will cut your exact letters. This machine is typically used to cut scrapbooking items, but can be used in the same way to cut vinyl letters.

Cutting Vinyl on Your Own

By purchasing vinyl paper online or by even purchasing the Cricut brand vinyl paper from a craft store, you can create your own vinyl letters. Stencil the letters you are using. Use a sharp scissors to cut each letter. These kits typically include two sheets of vinyl. Sign stores in your area may also sell vinyl to use for your project. Purchasing the paper by itself will be less expensive than having the company produce the pre-cut letters.
