Applying liquid latex requires some instruction and there are a few warnings you need to know about. Once you master the basic application techniques, however, the rest is up to your imagination. Create a unique style and show off your face and body.
Instructions
1. Check for allergies. Prior to applying latex, test for an allergic reaction. Apply a small, dime-sized amount of latex to your inner wrist or the back of your neck. If hives, redness or intense itching develop, wash off the latex immediately and discontinue use.
2. Shave off body hair. Latex and body hair do not mix. If you plan on using latex as body makeup or as a body costume, shave any areas that have hair.
3. Apply lotion. After shaving but before begin applying the latex, grab the bottle of lotion. Apply liberally on any areas where you plan to use latex. Lotion moistens your skin, which aids in the removal of the latex. Allow the lotion to absorb completely.
4. Open the latex container. Latex is flammable and must be vented prior to application. After opening the container, let it sit for at least five minutes.
5. Apply the latex. Take the sponge brush and dip it into the latex. Quickly apply to the area of skin you wish painted. Apply the latex smoothly and evenly.
6. Continue to apply the latex until all body areas are covered. If you want a dense coat, apply the latex up to three times. Allow the latex to dry completely before applying another layer.
7. Use the artist's brush for fine application on areas such as the face, or for detail work, use the artist's brush to apply the latex. Wet the brush first, then dip it into the latex and apply.
8. Dry the makeup. If you wish to speed up the drying process, use a blow dryer. The dryer's setting should be on medium. Be careful not to burn your skin.
