Decorate With Styrofoam

Styrofoam peanuts are great for decorating Christmas trees.

Styrofoam is best known for its use as a packing material. Often it is simply thrown away after use, but in fact you can reuse styrofoam for many types of holiday decorations. Styrofoam is unique in its flexibility, it comes in almost every shape and size, and is easy to work with -- so let your imagination run wild!

Instructions

1. Decorate a Christmas tree with strings of styrofoam peanuts. Simply thread a needle and create a string of peanuts by passing the needle through each, pushing the peanuts together as you go. Make enough to cover the tree from top to bottom.

2. Use styrofoam balls to decorate for parties. Stick lollipops into a styrofoam ball to create a lollipop centerpiece, or attach gumdrops to a ball with toothpicks for a hanging decoration. You can also stack styrofoam balls on top of one another to make snowmen. Don't forget to add buttons, eyes and a nose with some colored markers.

3. Break up white styrofoam board to make fake snow. Avoid making a mess by placing the styrofoam board in a plastic bag before breaking it into pieces.
