Decoratively Paint Your Windows

What better way to celebrate a season then to decorate your house. It puts everyone in the festive spirit of the times. Have you ever considered painting your windows like stores do? It's fun and easy in just a few steps.

Instructions

Decoratively Paint Your Windows

1. Clean your window area both inside and out. Let dry completely before beginning your artwork. When ready, the first thing you need is a black marking pen; felt tipped pen. You can free-hand your design or trace a favorite object from a coloring book. Kids over-sized coloring books work great for this. You draw in marker first on the inside of your window and make sure it's not the half with the screen. You can paint the screen side because it's done on the inside of the window but it looks better from outside if you use the unscreened portion of your window. If you don't feel comfortable free-handing the design, tear a page from the coloring book out and go tape it outside onto the window, Come back inside and trace over the drawing. Go back outside and remove the paper and tape. Otherwise, free hand draw your design on the inside of your window.

2. Get your paints ready ahead of time and have several color choices available. Paper plates or a formal palette work well. Ceramic paints are easy to use and can be bought at your local craft store. These go on to easy and clean up as easily. Paint in your picture like you were coloring in a coloring book. Your objects can be any size from small butterflies and flowers or shamrocks for a spring theme to a big red Santa for Christmastime.

3. Remember to use white and black. What on paper is normally left blank may appear clear through the window so every part of the picture needs color, even if it is the whites of eyes or black pupils in character drawings. Using shamrocks as an example, draw several different size shamrocks in the lower corner of your window for a St. Patrick's Day theme. These are easy as it only uses one color too.

4. After the season is over and it is time for your artwork to come off, clean up is a breeze if you first put a drop of dish soap in the paint back when you first painted the windows. Even the black marker will wipe off easily with a cleaning spray and paper towels. Now you are ready for the next season-themed artwork to decorate your house or apartment windows as neatly as a professional painter!
