Become A Match Maker

Matchmaking can be a rewarding profession when your clients fall in love.

A matchmaker is more than just a person who introduces people to each other. To make this business profitable, you need to approach it as a serious business, even if your friends snicker. This can be a good business for a person who enjoys working with people and is often in social settings where he or she can meet people. You can work from home, enjoy a flexible schedule and set your own rates.

Instructions

1. Become certified. There are a few sites that offer courses and certification online. Certification is not necessary to start your matchmaking business, but it makes your clients feel more secure about your abilities.

2. Make a website and business cards. Business cards are important because you need something to pass out when you meet people. Anyone you meet is a prospective client. People want to visit your website and get more information about you.

3. Get a nice office. Your office can be a room in your home, but it needs to be professional, yet warm and comfortable. You want people to feel comfortable around you because you need them to tell you about themselves.

4. Set up a fee structure. Offer fees based on the number of services the client wants. Have some services priced at a lower cost so people who can't spend much money can afford you.

5. Network, network, network. Go to parties, social events, job fairs and join your town's chamber of commerce. Pass out your business cards to everyone you know so you can build up a clientele.

6. Make files of your clients and keep a database on the computer. When a prospective client comes to see you, you can pull up your database and match his or her interests up with other people who might be compatible with the prospective client.
