Create An Animated Avatar

If you are on a message board, forum or social networking website that utilizes avatars, you may wonder create an animated avatar. It's simple as long as you have the right software.

Instructions

1. Find the dimensions for your avatar. Almost all websites limit the size of an avatar. Also check to see how many kilobits the image must be. Most websites have this information posted with the avatar rules.

2. Create the frames. An animated avatar is actually a series of frames that are combined together and looped. You create the frames with Photoshop or any other graphics program. When creating the frames, remember the maximum size allowed. You should keep each frame the same size.

3. Download animated gif software so you can place each frame of the image together to form one image. Great animated gif software can be found on the Corel website. However, you can use any type of animated gif software to finish your animated avatar.

4. Test your animated avatar. You know it's working once you can see the image and verify that it is animated. As long as the image is the appropriate height and width, and the file isn't too large, the animated avatar should work without problem.
