Catch that caller!
Prank calls have always been a fun activity for youngsters. Nowadays, however, prank calls are no longer limited only to kids. Random strangers, unhappy neighbors or dissatisfied employees are also caught making prank calls. Though it is easy to catch pestering calls with the help of caller ID, it is not always helpful as pranksters choose to call through unknown numbers, which makes it harder to catch the call.
Instructions
1. Use a reverse look up phone directory to find the specific number (if available). Not all online directories offer services for free, so you might have to pay a little fee to get the results. Some links to these directories are available in the Resources section of this article.
2. Call your phone service provider and ask the representative if you can set up "call trace" feature on your phone. This feature automatically traces the last call you receive on your phone. The traced information includes the calling number, time and date of the call. The feature might cost you a few dollars, depending on your network service provider. This feature is offered by different phone companies, such as Verizon.
3. Contact the local police department if the prank call is threatening, obscene or repetitive. Give details of the call, including times of the calls, phone number (if available) and how often you receive calls from the number. The police will then take necessary steps to stop the caller.
