Wyeth provides free medication for qualified patients who can't afford it.
Wyeth, a subsidiary of Pfizer, offers a patient-assistance program for qualified patients that need medications made by that company who cannot afford to pay for them. The company provides medication to qualified patients at no charge.
Available Assistance
As of 2010, medications available through the Wyeth Patient Assistance Program include Effexor, Phospholine Iodide, Premarin, Premphase, Pristiq, Protonix and Trecator. Patients can receive 90-day supplies of most medications through the program with the exception of Protonix; patients can only receive 60-day supplies of that drug. Wyeth mails medications directly to patients or to patients' physicians.
Eligibility
Patients must earn less than 200 percent of the current poverty level, have insufficient resources to pay for the medication and have no insurance coverage for the medication they need. Only U.S. citizens qualify for the Wyeth Patient Assistance Program.
Applying for Assistance
Download an application on the Wyeth website (see Resources). The prescribing physician must sign the application. Then mail it to the Wyeth Pharmaceutical Assistance Foundation at the address on the application. Patient must apply every year.
