aren't necessarily just for fun. If you have old or unusual comics in great condition, you could have a valuable asset. Although the value of comic books varies dramatically, it's well worth checking whether that stack under your bed contains any priceless gems. You can find many resource guides that will give you a good idea of the value of what you have.
Instructions
1. Assess the condition of your comic books. Those that can be described as being in mint condition fetch the most money. If the cover or pages are discolored, creased or torn, the value of the comic will be significantly lower.
2. Check the issue number, along with the month and the day the comic was published. You'll need this information when you use a price guide.
3. Find a price guide. There are several online sites (see Resources), and you can also find paper guides, such as the "Overstreet Price Guide" and "Wizard Magazine."
4. Search the alphabetical listing for your comic title or enter your comic's information in the search function of the price guide. The guide will list various different values for that particular comic, depending on condition.
5. Do a reality check on eBay or another online auction site, searching for comics similar to yours. This will give you a second resource to see what people are really prepared to pay in the marketplace.
