Design your own graffiti style.
Designing words into graffiti is its own developing art form. Although graffiti artists borrow from each other, as do all artists, each develops his own particular style. Some graffiti words are easier to read than others, and some are more whimsical. Graffiti styles can be soft and round, or sharp, harsh and edgy. In designing your own style for writing graffiti, consider what is most appealing to you and what look will add value to your message.
Instructions
1. Write your words across the page, leaving ample space between each letter. Typically, graffiti is done with capital letters, but you can use lower case. Decide which fits your need.
2. Outline each letter to thicken it up. In doing your outlines the outer edges of one letter can impinge upon or even overlap with the edge of the next letter. In most graffiti, the letters butt up against each other, crowding each other. But in some cases, there is still space in between. Decide how you want your letters to look.
3. Alter the corners of the letters to give them a distinctive shape. You have them with width and thickness. Now shape them. Round the ends, giving them a popular bubble look, or make the corners very angular and sharp. Perhaps extend the ends and corners, adding in bends and twists.
4. Another option is to apply additional decorations to the letters. With long, extended ends, you can add in arrowheads or starburst patterns. Add in extra bubbles and circles around a softer graffiti style, or fill in round letters, such as o's, with faces or other symbols.
5. Add a finishing surround outline, one that encapsulates each word with a continuous thick line, as is commonly found in works of graffiti. Or have the outline surround and contain the entire phrase as one entity.
