Create Clay Doll Shoes

Create doll shoes out of clay for your shoeless dolls.

Many popular brands of dolls will have separate outfits, accessories and shoes that you can purchase. However, for less popular, homemade or antique dolls, you may not have that luxury. Although you may not be able to purchase shoes for your doll, you can make them yourself using clay. With some plastic clay and a toaster oven-- one that is not used for cook or baking, as the fumes can be harmful to you if accidentally ingested--you can easily create some doll shoes.

Instructions

1. Measure the entire foot--length, width and height--so you know how large or small to make the shoes.

2. Knead the clay to warm and soften it; this will make the clay more pliable and easier to work with. You can purchase polymer clay in almost any color from local craft stores.

3. Mold both shoes with your hands to match the measurements of the foot. For best results, make the shoe just a few millimeters larger than the actually foot. Mold the clay into a shape that you like; you can even give the shoes high heels.

4. Place the shoes on top of a piece of aluminum foil. Pull the foil up on the sides to make a tent. The tent-shaped foil will protect the shoes from getting over-heated and cracking

5. Turn your toaster oven on to "Bake" at 275 degrees Fahrenheit (135 degrees Celsius).

6. Place the shoes into a toaster oven once it is pre-heated. Bake the shoes for 20 to 25 minutes.

7. Remove the clay shoes from the toaster oven when they're done baking. Allow them to cool completely.

8. Sand the shoes with a fine piece of sandpaper to smooth them out and to remove any bump or crevices.

9. Slip the shoes onto your doll.
