Many websites allow their users to create an alternative name and picture to identify themselves in chat forums, blogs and other social outlets. These alternate identities are known as avatars. Your avatar essentially allows you to voice your opinions and ideas openly while protecting your actual identity. Avatars usually consist of a picture and a name of the user's choosing. Creating a name for your avatar is as simple as naming a pet or a character in a video game; it's completely up to you and normally has few restrictions.
Instructions
1. Analyze the website you are creating an avatar for before you begin to think about a name. A name you may use for a fantasy or video game site may not not be appropriate for a comedy site and could result in you being ridiculed and ostracized by other users.
2. Consider how you want your name to represent you as a user. You may want to incorporate your heritage by including words from a different language or your gender by giving yourself a male or female name. Remember that avatar names don't need to be real names like Michael or Samantha and can be anything you wish; be creative and have fun naming your avatar.
3. Add numbers, accents or symbols to your avatar name. This will not only further individualize your name but will also allow you to use a name that has already been registered. For instance, if you want to use the name Noobpwner but the name has already been registered, you can use the name Noobpwner123.
4. Avoid using your own name if you want to be anonymous. Your avatar name will double as your profile name, so if you wish to keep your identity a secret, don't use any name that could reveal your identity.
5. Go to a search engine such as Google, Yahoo! or Bing and search for a name generator, if you are having trouble coming up with a name on your own.
