Create Concert Flyers

Posting flyers for your concert will help promote your event.

Whether you want to advertise a holiday concert at a senior center or daycare, a rock concert at the Main Street bar or a symphony performance at a church, your advertising flyer will help spread the word. Although you can spend a lot of money getting a professional to create a flyer, you can make your own concert flyer with the use of a home computer and printer. Gather your event information and some digital images and your concert flyer will be ready for hanging very soon.

Instructions

1. Standard printer paper is ideal for concert flyers.

Open a blank Microsoft Word page or blank 8.5- by 11-inch page in your writing or desktop printing software program. This usually is done by clicking "File" and "New." Depending on the software, just look for "New" in the menu bar or within the drop-down menu items.

2. Forgetting event information on your flyer is a common mistake.

Type all the pertinent concert details including the names of performers and date and time of the performance.

3. "Venue" refers to the location of your event.

Add the venue information, including the physical address, phone number and email address.

4. Ensure that concert information is the same on both the flyer and the tickets.

Type in concert ticket prices and information on how and when to buy tickets.

5. Go back to the top of the page and create a headline. Type the performer's name and then highlight the text to change the font and size. Use the performer's standard font or graphics if available. The font refers to the typeface or appearance of each text character.

6. Use various sizes of fonts on your flyer. Variety will show what parts of the flyer are the most important.

Highlight the rest of the text and enlarge the font size so that it fits nicely on one page.

7. Highlight the text again and choose an attractive font for the event. The font should be clear to read and conveys the feel of the event. For example, if it's a kid's concert, choose a font styled in the often crooked form of a child's handwriting.

8. Add images of the band from digital files. You can insert the images and place them in the upper corner of the flyer or fill the entire page with the image and then fade it out to be a "watermark."

9. Re-address font sizes for your text. Consider making the headline the largest, date and time information second largest and the rest of the text a size or two smaller.

10. Format concert date and time in bold print to make the information stand out.

11. Save and print on colored paper or use color ink and white glossy paper for a more professional look.
