Create Lovable Comic Book Heroes

Every comic book enthusiast knows just what makes a great hero. Batman, Superman and even more obscure heroes like The Green Lantern have visual and character qualities that make them lovable. Now you want to make a lovable comic book character of your own. So follow these steps to create a lovable comic book hero and combine all the things you love about your favorite hero into one masterful creation.

Instructions

1. Survey your favorite comic book heroes. Write down the characteristics that make them your favorite. Then decide if their costumes, powers, face, strength of their personalities make them memorable.

2. Sketch or trace a few of your favorite comic book heroes. Take a separate sheet of paper and sketch some of the characteristics of your favorite heroes, and try to meld them into one person; see what the exercise yields.

3. Remember that one of the characteristics that makes anyone lovable is vulnerability. Create a character with a good heart, a lovable sense of humor or another endearing trait/habit that in some way adds to the general likability of the hero.

4. Incorporate parts of yourself or loved ones into your character; whether it is physical or personality this will aid in making the character more human. Know that what makes most super heroes most lovable is the idea that their super power lies dormant in a mild mannered or "everyday" person.

5. Write a full back story to accompany your super hero. Give them a family, pets, a hometown (or planet) and how they developed into a super hero. You can indicate this story visually through making an origin cartoon or writing a short story.
