Booth Design Ideas For Artists

Take your time designing a booth to properly display your art.

Setting up a booth to sell art at a craft fair or art show is a good way for artists to connect with potential customers. Just showing up isn't enough, though. You need to bring your creativity to your booth design to draw potential buyers. Use the booth as a tool to portray a message to the public.

Draw People In

Locate your most impressive piece of art prominently as a calling card to lure potential buyers into your booth display. This piece should be representational of your work and send a message to the public. Set this piece on an easel stand at the entrance of the booth or on a pedestal slightly in front of the booth if possible. You want people to notice this piece, be intrigued and enter your booth area.

Create Borders

Design a layout that's inviting to customers. Rearrange tables and chairs. Spread a rug under your booth display area. Set your booth apart from the crowd by making it feel like a destination point. Add table cloths in a coordinating color to extend the homey, welcoming atmosphere. Create walls with dividers, netting or fabric. These makeshift walls give you more space to display art work or hang signage.

Add Height

Make art more visible to passersby by placing art at a variety of heights. Set boxes under tablecloths to create different levels. Secure boxes to tables with tape to avoid accidents. If more than one box is being stacked, tape the boxes together as well. Incorporate props to enhance the overall look and create more depth to your booth design. Baskets, small tables and display racks are all possibilities, depending upon the size of your art.

Display Contact Information

Create a sign announcing your name or business name to customers. Hang the sign prominently. Include a stack of business cards and a guest book in the display. Encourage all visitors to your booth to sign the guest book so you can send updates and invitations to future shows. Building a relationship with customers is an important purpose of the booth. Make it an easier task by incorporating these elements into your booth design.
