Create Your Own 3d Character Online

Create Your Own 3D Character Online

A standard picture of a person that you post online is a 2D (two-dimensional) flat image. Some people prefer to post a 3D (three-dimensional) character instead. Unlike a flat image, you can look at a 3D character from a number of perspectives, such as from the side, top, or below, and it's usually animated. A few online services allow you to create your own 3D character right from your Web browser.

Instructions

1. Use Meez to create your own 3D character online. Create a new account, select the option to "Create an Avatar," and wait for the tool to load (Java required). Choose a guy or girl, then process to the options for changing the character's look. You can modify the 3D avatar's makeup, skin tone, eyes, body type, hairstyle, and clothes. Proceed to the "Animations" section where you can create the 3D action. The Meez character will move around as it performs the activity of your choice. Save the Meez and keep a copy of the animated image to post in online forums or on your website.

2. Try Imvu, an online tool that allows you to create a character and customize it with 3D option. Choose the sex of the character (male or female), then hit "Customize." Select one of the avatars and preview it in 3D-the character will spin, move and look around. Type in a name for the avatar and click "Continue." Change the character's clothing and hair to make it all your own. Once you register for an account, you can choose the option to share the character with your friends online.

3. Sign up for an account with the Evolver 3D avatar builder. Click "Get Started" to load the tool in your browser. Choose an avatar from a selection of pre-made options, or choose the option to create a "Blank Avatar" from scratch. Whichever option you choose, you can modify the character's facial features, hair, body, and clothes. This tool even allows you to blend two avatars into one to get closer to your own facial features. Save the avatar to your account and copy the code generated to post it to your online profiles and forums.
