Cool A Small Drum Room

Drums.

A drum set can take up a lot of space that you don't have. You may wish to designate it to one of the smallest rooms in your house where it doesn't hog all the open space and can be easily hidden when company comes over. Also, moving a lot in a small room can make the room very hot, especially in the warmer months of the year. Luckily it is not hard to cool down the room and make it a comfortable and safe surrounding for you and your drum set.

Instructions

1. Keep the door closed. The key to keeping a small room cool is letting the cool air stay in the room. Small rooms don't take much to cool, but they also can lose heat easily if it is not retained inside.

2. Purchase a portable air conditioner. Portable air conditioners are quieter than in-window air conditioners and can come with dehumidifiers. It is best to get one with a dehumidifier because excess moisture around a drum set can warp drum heads and damage the set. You can get one of these air conditioners at any large hardware or appliance store.

3. Place the portable air conditioner as far away from the drum set as possible but with the front facing the drum set. Don't place it in a place where it will be hit when the door opens or tripped over given the limited amount of space. Don't place it very near too many electrical outlets because water is involved in its operation.

4. Turn the air conditioner on and leave it running only while you are in the room to save energy and money. If you want you can turn it on 10 to 15 minutes before you plan on going into the room so it is cold upon your arrival. The time you spend in the room with the air conditioner on will be enough to keep the humidity level low for the drums.
