Create Photo Splits

Photo splits break a large photo into several parts to create a large landscape image, broken up over frames. Usually photo splits are printed on canvas that can then be stretched over the frame. To print on canvas, create the image file in a photo-editing program, then send the image file to a professional printer. In some cases, you can pay the printer to mount the photo for you and save some time in the process. Hiring a professional printer is necessary since printing on canvas requires specialized equipment.

Instructions

1. Open the photo editing software and import the image you would like to break apart.

2. Divide the image into three equal segments using the "Scissor Tool" or an equivalent option in the photo-editing program. Save each cut as its own separate image file.

3. Open each image and add a 1-inch border to the margins. Fill in the margin with a solid black color or other color of your choice to act as the border. Alternatively, you can also copy a portion of the photo and paste it onto the sides to extend the image onto the border.

4. Send the photo to a canvas printing company to have the photos set to a frame. The margins must be 1 inch from the side of the photo, and they should act as the border.
