Microsoft offers free email through the MSN.com, Hotmail.com and Live.com domains.
One of the many services offered by Microsoft under the Windows Live brand name is free, Web-based email under the MSN.com, Hotmail.com or Live.com domains. This email is available to anyone who signs up. Create a Windows Live ID so that you can have a Web-based email address that can be accessed from any computer with an Internet connection.
Instructions
1. Browse to the MSN email creation page. (See "Resources.") Enter the username that you would like to use for your email address in the box labeled "E-mail address" at the top of the screen, then enter the password that you would like in the box immediately below it. Type the password a second time to confirm that it has been entered correctly.
2. Select the question that you should be asked if you forget the password for your MSN email account, then enter the answer. Optionally, enter an alternate email address that can be used when resetting your password.
3. Enter the verification code at the bottom of the screen. The code is a random string of letters and numbers that must be entered to prove that a human is creating the account. Click the "Continue" button.
4. Enter basic information such as your name, location and date of birth. Click "Continue."
5. Examine the terms of use for Microsoft's online services, then type your email address and click "I Accept," if you agree to the terms. The email account will be created. Click "Continue" to be taken to your inbox.
