Design A Good Flyer

Spark interest in your event by designing your own flier.

You want to advertise an upcoming event with a flier that will get attention. The possibilities are seemingly endless when it comes to designing your flier, but you want it to be attractive as well as effective. Designing a flier for your event is fun and allows your creative energy to flow.

Instructions

1. Open a new document in a word processing program.

2. Decide how you want your flier to look. Think about font, text size and an image you want to include to get people interested in your event. You not only want people to see the flier but also to stop to read the information. Deciding the overall look of the flier before designing it will make your job easier.

3. Include an image that will get attention. The image should relate to your event. To add an image to a document, choose "insert image," then choose the image you want on your flier. You can move the image on your flier by left-clicking the image with your mouse and placing it where you want the image. You also can resize the image by placing your cursor on the corner of the image, right-clicking the image and dragging the cursor until you achieve the desired size.

4. Add text to your flier. Keep it simple so readers will remember the information. Your event's name should be in bold lettering in a large size toward the top of the flier. Also include the date and time of your event as well as any pertinent information about your event that will persuade people to attend, such as cost of attendance. Giveaways usually are a popular attraction and should be included on your flier if you are providing free items to people who attend your event.

5. Proofread your flier and, if possible, have someone look at the flier to make sure it is free of spelling and grammatical errors and is visually appealing.
